MOROBE Governor Luther Wenge has praised acting Prime Minister Sam Abal for sacking Don Polye and William Duma from cabinet.
Wenge, who commented in his capacity as the Momase Governors’ Council chairman, said yesterday: “Abal had executed his duty as the acting PM very well.
“Abal is a leader who is conscious of his constitutional obligations as well as the interests of the people of Papua New Guinea,” Wenge said.
“We cannot please everyone all the time; we should be conscious of the interests of our people.
“Abal is not a big talker; can be emotional but is very diplomatic to his political colleagues, ministers, members on both sides of the house and, most importantly, the people of PNG,” Wenge said.
He said Abal was conscious of Vision 2050 and had worked with the government to implement its structural basis.
Wenge said Polye and Duma should not become emotional and try to cause instability among the ruling coalition, the government or their own people.
“We all should stand with the acting prime minister until such time when Sir Michael Somare gets well,” Wenge said.
